The 8 Best Single-Player Fighting Games

Because sometimes a computer is more chill than your friends.

When fighting games first became popular in the 1990s, single-player material wasn’t a big deal. In arcades, you could either play with other people or fight your way up a ladder against computer-controlled opponents. Most of the attention was put on multiplayer games because they gave a unique social setting in arcades, which is something that is no longer possible.

But as arcades went away and most fights moved to consoles, you needed a little bit more for your money. You no longer spent a few quarters but $60, and for that price, you need a lot of single-player material.
